Seascapes remind us of moments to treasure. Time with family on beaches and by the sea. Looking for fossils, paddling in the sea and walking coastal footpaths with marshes, dunes, pebbles and wildlife with the ever crashing waves as a sound track. Each piece comprises basse-taille enamel on silver with cloisonné details. Transparent enamels are used like watercolours, building up thin veils of tiny touches of colour over hand engraved silver, often with painted details in cloisonné enamel jelly fish, fish and birds. They evolve over a succession of firings, typically anything from six to a dozen or more. Each fine layer of enamel is fired separately for 1-2 minutes in the kiln. Finally the piece is finished by polishing with diamond grits and polish to achieve a fine, perfect smooth and tactile surface.
